Claxton Creative is led by Julian Claxton, an award-winning photographer and filmmaker with more than twenty years of freelance experience spanning portraiture, documentary, medical, and international commercial assignments.

Julian’s creative journey began at the age of eleven in a traditional darkroom, where an early fascination with light and storytelling laid the foundation for a lifelong career behind the lens. From those first black-and-white prints to major commissions in industries as varied as healthcare, renewable energy, and the arts, his work has been defined by a deep empathy for people and places, and a commitment to authentic visual storytelling.

His distinctive approach has earned international recognition, with images published on magazine covers, featured in exhibitions, and held in collections worldwide.

Alongside commercial commissions, Julian remains dedicated to personal and community-driven projects. His long-term documentaries include Naturally Norfolk, an acclaimed exhibition chronicling the life of reed cutter Eric Edwards, and Portrait, an ongoing series exploring the stories of people within his local community.

In 2015, Julian founded Give a Child a Camera, which evolved in 2024 into Fotograf — a UK-based charity empowering disadvantaged children in Uganda through photography and storytelling. The initiative provides creative training, equipment, and mentorship, enabling young people to share their perspectives and build brighter futures through visual expression.

Julian holds full GWO offshore accreditation, medical certification, and extensive renewable industry experience dating back to 2017. He is also a CAA-approved commercial drone pilot.
