My goodness the chilly weather today brought with it some truly inspiring light. I was out with the drone filming for a client at sunrise yesterday morning and couldn't resist some stills from the most Easterly point in the UK. That light - it was quite something.

Last week I was onsite with the team at Excelsior

Last week I was onsite with the team at Excelsior Trust in Oulton Broad, creating imagery as they prepare and finish the new mast for LT472. It’s been an incredible experience watching them shape a massive piece of Douglas fir and bring the new mast to life. Working mainly with traditional tools and remarkable craftsmanship, they’re helping to ensure the continued longevity of this iconic Lowestoft vessel.
I decided from the outset to shoot in black and white. It's something I've been working a lot more on recently with a few clients specifically requesting this and it's been an enjoyable capture and process. There has been something so incredibly tactile I've been missing from black and white

as a photographer one is always looking at the light and today of course was no different. on the way back from a shoot in Norfolk the light was stunning. I sadly couldn't get a suitable stop point on the A47, but as I drove over Breydon water I briefly pulled up and grabbed the Nikon and shot a few frames. It was a beautiful light (albeit the last of it!) but after a successful day shooting, it was a joy to finish my coffee, sit by the river and watch as the daylight surrendered to the cold evening.

After years of dedication, hard work, and no doubt a few stressful moments (and maybe a few tears), it was wonderful to see so many smiles at last week’s East Coast College graduation at the spectacular Great Yarmouth Minster.

A huge thank you to all the students and staff for making the event such a joy to capture!

Ever wondered how to forage for freshly-grown seasonal produce out in the wild?
Well, me too. I was fortunate enough to join a foraging tour in Norfolk, shooting images for online and print media.
Not only do I enjoy being out in the countryside with the camera gear, but to join Jon on the Taste of the Wild workshop was educational and refreshing. Back to basics and returning home with enough tips and knowledge to hopefully carry this forward!

Oh Boy I enjoyed my recent brief visit to Armultra

Oh Boy I enjoyed my recent brief visit to Armultra Limited in Great Yarmouth. Working with the terrific team at Apprenticeships Norfolk, we donned our PPE and shot a series of images of their apprentices at work for upcoming PR campaigns.

I've worked with many apprentices through the years, including in my role (many many years ago as a medical photographer) and really appreciate the benefit of working on apprenticeship programs and helping to progress futures. There is little doubt about the benefits apprentices play in sustaining and advancing businesses by providing a vital pipeline of skilled workers and it is great to see that happening on our doorstep.

Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure

Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of working on some incredible shoots across the UK, but one recent shoot on my doorstep was a recent shoot with Plantscape in Norfolk, commissioned by Apprenticeships Norfolk.

Despite the dreary weather—rain drizzling down and the skies a dull grey—we set out to document the hard work and dedication of the team. Our location was an overgrown space outside the city.

Last Sunday saw the inaugural Lowestoft 10k race.
On a humid and thankfully cloudy day, Britain's most easterly running race saw 700 people take to route which skirted around Ness Point, past the fabulous Orbis Energy Centre and back through the lovely Ness Park. - cheered on by hundreds of spectators.

The event, hosted by Lowestoft Town Council was without doubt a real highlight for the area, which certainly seems to be on a positive footing at the moment.
Thank you for the smiles, waves and general happiness, it's always a pleasure to work locally.

There is something so very beautiful about watching a craftsperson at work.
In a age of automation, time and money pressures, it's important we embrace the importance of skill, craft and dedication to work.

On Tuesday I was at the Lowestoft Town Hall site with Barnes Construction as Jack from Haward Horological installed the new Weather Vane. Using elements of the original structure he replicated the old and dilapidated pieces in his Suffolk workshop, then hand cutting, filing and applying gold leaf, he installed the new structure atop the impressive Town Hall.

It was a fantastic day on Sunday for the Big C Can

It was a fantastic day on Sunday for the Big C Cancer Charity Vs Help Delete Cancer, charity football match ⚽️

Brings back memories of previous work and roles.. I first started shooting football matches in 2007 - for the Non League Paper. I would drive all over East Anglia, shooting imagery for their Sunday edition papers - the pay was rubbish, I was often cold and wet and to be honest didn't enjoy it much - I saw it as character building!

It was however, nice to take a stroll down memory lane on Sunday, pop the big lens on and shoot some sports in wonderfully bright sunny weather and for a great cause.

The game wasn't half bad either. No matter the age, the ex professional players definitely have "still got it" - obviously some pace had been lost, but their passing ability, vision and the way they could pick out players was lovely to watch!
